What is a good site to check on the value of an old comic book?
July 312009
We found a comic book from 1947 in very good condition. Just curious as to the value of it.
hi! my father collected comics..1930-40’s on still does from time to time……. and passed that love to me…. I have been reading and collecting now for over thirty years….. and for a good fifteen years have graded/valued and priced on and off….. ouch….all that info just so you know that I did not just pull a name and site from a search engine….lol… …. for online pricing, info on books etc….this site is my favorite….
http://www.comicspriceguide.com/default.asp
hope it helps… if not, feel free to email me thru the answers link, and I will try and help you find out info on what you have, grading etc…..
oh, just saw two others answers are up before mine.. personal opinion here….
1) ebay is NOT the way to go… sorry but if I am looking for rock bottom prices and great deals, that is where i go… stores even will only give you a percentage…. before you consider selling? look into value after it has been graded via one of the two bigger grading/sealing companies; the value unfortunately goes up with it….
overstreet is very well respected…. but you need the most up to date that there is….
2) I have been to wizarduniverse.com and though the articles are good…. the items in their store front interesting? the guide is not so good and I could not find it online, if I remember and even the magazine itself for comic pricing, seems to have gone down some from when it first came out…..
I believe the first answerer stated something pertaining to values… if and when you get to values, grading and all the other things? the site I sent has some info on that… most comic sites will give you info on grading/values/pricing….. and, I really do not mind helping out if/how I can…. don’t like seeing people get shafted due to not knowing… anyway….

Classic Game Room Comic Book Review reviews the very first, collector’s item issue of THUNDERCATS #1! Thundercats was an iconic 1980’s cartoon show about a group of half-cat, half-man (and woman) heroes from a distant world and a distant time… who lived on Third Earth? Well, full of plot loopholes and inconsistencies, Thunder Cats was still exciting and entertaining. Back in the day we watched the Thunder Cats cartoons as Lion-O lead the heroic Cat people in battle against Mumm-Ra and his loyal, evil followers. How does this comic book compare to the beloved TV show? Should you pick up issue #1 from Marvel Comics and their Star Comics branch? Check out this review as we look into the comic book artwork, the story, writing and characters. This first issue introduces us to Liono, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara (rrowrr!), Snarf, the Wondertwins and Mummra. These are some cool cats, dig it? They fly through space and wear latex body armor and carry weapons! Meet the Sword of Omens! Miss the first episode of the THUNDERCATS, well pick up the story with this comic book. It’s an entertaining read and one that you may enjoy so check it out as CGR Comics reviews, THUNDERCATS #1, based on the popular THUNDERCATS cartoon show which was made to hock the THUNDERCATS line of action figures, toys, vehicles, playsets, swords, t-shirts and plastic tank cat things! Keep watching the CGR Comics comic book review show for none of the latest comic book reviews, only old ones.
