Who do you think is the icon of Marvel Comics?

I know Spider-man or Wolverine are more popular today. Given their history of TV shows and movies, as well as comics - Who is their actual Icon?

Spider-man, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, One of the mutants? Someone else?

Well lets look at it.

Spiderman is their flag ship character. He comes out weekly and he’s in SIX books named after him. Not counting the others that he sometimes guess star in. He’s also been in the most movies and cartoons and now they’re making a Spiderman musical about him.

Wolverine is the most popular mutant character. He appears in as many marvel titles as they can fit him in. As well as having three books of his own.

Captain America. Is the moral rock of the Marvel Universe and appears on the little icon box below sometimes swinging his shield around. But as far as appearing in as many comics and/or movies. I don’t think so.

So those are the three choices you have to go on. Not counting what movie is Marvel trying to push. They want an Avengers movie. So anything with the Avengers should be discounted at this time because they are trying to do there best with marketing that right now so you. The viewer will go "Hey that must be good, I want to see it!"

i.e See Avatar commercials lol

As an advent comic book reader of both Marvel and DC. I can tell you. It’s SPIDERMAN, without a doubt.

Either one of them, it’s hard to say. But if I were to choose, I’d choose Wolverine.

Spider-Man, considering he essentially made Marvel Comics what it is today. If it weren’t for Spider-Man, Marvel would have probably sunk financially.

How many cartoons does Wolverine have …. oh that right. Wolverine has one cartoon labeled

Wolverine and the X-men with the other X-men as pathetic versions of themselves to make Wolverine look better and one movie compared to Spidey’s 6 movies. @_@

he had two before 2001 in a poor crappy 78/79 movie that nobody but comic book geeks remember.

    and in 2011. Spiderman 4. ^_^

I don’t think Wolverine will get that chance. lol

in terms of the forefront "image" of Marvel, it would definately have to be Spider-Man. He’s pretty much to Marvel, as Superman is to DC, poster/pin up boy that everyone knows. But then for fans, the icons would have to be Marvel’s trinity. Like DC’s trinity (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman) is to the DC universe, the Marvel characters Thor, Iron Man and Captain America are pretty much the leaders of the Marvel universe, but because they’re not as well known as Spider-Man they don’t get as much recognition in the non-comic book reading world. I hope this answers a couple questions.

Spider-Man. Easily. He was on the cover of all Marvel Comics for years, like the Marvel Logo itself.

As for who would be the BEST icon? Captain America. He’s got the most iconic and inspiring design (coming from an American who loves the ideals the flag is supposed to represent)
